This thread is for item suggestions, that is, items you'd like to see implemented. Please use the item format.
You examine a pair of steel wings. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The pair of wings is forged to resemble demon wings, and is held in place with leather straps. They are made to be ornamental and cannot fly, but they can be used to block or attack. They cannot be fitted with wing-spikes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Worn, or wielded as an improvised weapon, but cannot be thrown. Size/reach : Adds ten encumbrance, and has a melee reach of zero feet. Material : Steel (90% durability). Techniques : 2 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 0 behind the scenes). Special : Unlocks wing table when worn. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : Two hundred (out of two hundred). Attack : +0 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Defence : +0 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Damage : +0 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Cooldown : 4, 4, 5 or 5 seconds, depending on wielders encumbrance. Protects : Back. Soak/Absorb: 35%/5 cut, 35%/5 stab, 35%/5 crush and 0%/0 poison. Soak/Absorb: 10%/5 heat, 10%/5 cold, 10%/5 shock and 0%/0 mental. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
These would unlock the wing table, but only the wingblock and wing bash command. I have never seen the wing table so I dont know what to make it look like. I based the soak off of target shields.
Edit: Also, cannot be worn if you already have wings. Would have a issue with wearing steel wings, then using chiroptera on chest. :-/ Also, maybe it should take all 3 back locations so people dont wear 3 pairs of wings.

The purpose would be to have cool-looking wings that give wing-bash and wingblock for people who don't have it.
Edit: Trust me, I know it's a little rough around the edge's, (it's crap, ya), but I thought avy's might like it, and i thought it would be cool to have wingblock-bash for those who cannot get it.
You examine a leather cat o' nine tails. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The cat o' nine-tails consists of a ten-foot length of braided leather, unraveled at the end into nine knotted ropes. The cat o' nine tails is more effective than a whip when it comes to inflicting damage - however it is not very useful for entangling an opponent. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Flails (also benefits from the Whip Mastery talent). Usage : One handed, and cannot be thrown. Size/reach : Adds two encumbrance, and has a melee reach of ten feet. Material : Leather (50% durability). Techniques : 81 (0 mounted, 45 style-specific and 8 behind the scenes). Good styles: Fox, Serpent, Hydra, Viper and Cobra (see 'help style'). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred (out of one hundred). Attack : +15 (+20, +15, +10 or +2 depending on condition). Defence : +0 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Damage : +10 (+5, +4, +3 or +1 depending on condition). Requires : Brawn 4, Grace 6 and Size 4. Cooldown : 4, 4, 5 or 5 seconds, depending on wielders encumbrance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based off of whips. Designed to do more damage than a whip, but cannot entangle.

Sorry, but no strap-on wings, tails, extra arms, or anything else.
I mean, seriously, what would you control a pair of strap-on wings with? I could see them being worn on your arms (which would look rather silly and likely be very ineffective in combat), but they're not going to flap on their own if you stick them on your back.

Haha, okay. I thought it was dumb too, I can see everyone agrees.
Edit: They are not supposed to fly, they are to wingblock-bash. Editedit: Lol @strap-on arms. That was gonna be my next suggestion!

But you'd still need to move them in order to bash - unless you mean the character would twist from side to side with the wings sticking out from their body? But that would still look really wierd, and I can't imagine it being an effective way to fight - plus people would start asking for the ability to hit with big sheathed weapons (those stick out, too)...

Haha, you make very strong points KaVir.
You examine an pair of iron pauldrons. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A pauldron is a large spaulder, covering the armpit, and parts of the back and chest. It consists of a single large dome-shaped piece to cover the shoulder with multiple lamés attached to it to defend the arm and upper shoulder. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Worn, or wielded as an improvised weapon, and may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds three encumbrance, and has a melee reach of two feet. Material : Iron (80% durability). Techniques : 59 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 1 behind the scenes). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred and fifty (out of one hundred and fifty). Protects : Body, back and arms. Soak/Absorb: 30%/5 cut, 20%/5 stab, 30%/5 crush and 0%/0 poison. Soak/Absorb: 5%/5 heat, 5%/5 cold, 0%/0 shock and 5%/5 mental. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Based the soak off of iron chainmail with some modification.
Edit:
You examine a pair of spiked steel boots ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A pair of spiked boots which buckle up above the ankle, offering more protection than shoes against enemy attacks and rough terrain. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Worn, or wielded as an improvised weapon, but cannot be thrown. Size/reach : Adds two encumbrance, and has a melee reach of one foot. Material : Steel (90% durability). Techniques : 4 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 1 behind the scenes). Special : This item is classified as heavy armour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred (out of one hundred). Protects : Feet. Soak/Absorb: 30%/5 cut, 25%/5 stab, 30%/5 crush and 0%/0 poison. Soak/Absorb: 10%/5 heat, 5%/5 cold, 5%/5 shock and 0%/0 mental. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Your feet attacks do stab damage when you wear these, could also have bladed boots that do cut. I just made up the soak.
You examine a pair of winged leather boots. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A pair of winged boots which buckle up above the ankle, offering more protection than shoes against enemy attacks and rough terrain. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Worn, or wielded as an improvised weapon, but cannot be thrown. Size/reach : Adds three encumbrance, and has a melee reach of one foot. Material : Leather (50% durability). Techniques : 4 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 1 behind the scenes). Special : This item unlocks the "fw" and "ft" command. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred (out of one hundred). Protects : Feet. Soak/Absorb: 50%/8 cut, 45%/8 stab, 50%/8 crush and 0%/0 poison. Soak/Absorb: 40%/20 heat, 10%/20 cold, 10%/20 shock and 5%/4 mental. ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Re pauldrons: if this protects body, back and arms, then it opens up a lot of opportunity for uber-soaking. For a start, it would have to stop you protecting your back with "sheathed" shields, but that still gives you the option of piles more soak on your body and arms. Perhaps this can be compensated with increased encumbrance.
Re spiked/bladed boots: like'em.
Re winged boots: I really like the mental picture... these would have to be somehow inherently magical, which seems to make them unique. Not sure how this fits into the current item model. Also, you probably would not want to give them the "ft" tech, just fw (if people want to travel other than by class powers, they can always use a wand/horn).

So a pauldron would basically be breastplate and bracers combined into a single item (I'm assuming the lamés would be treated as part of the same item)? The advantage would be that any soak bonuses on the item would apply to all three locations. The disadvantage would be that you couldn't get bracer-specific bonuses (although you could of course still wear gauntlets).
Spiked boots are cool. I'd also like to have spurs, perhaps as a separate item (undecided) which could give riding bonuses and perhaps also be usable in combat.
Winged boots are also nice, and are something I've considered including in the past. I've not done it yet because there's currently no way for items to add commands or techs to combat tables. I may change this at some point, as I'd also like battle bracers to add some unarmed techs.

Well, the lames are attached to the pauldron and are really the only part that protects the body and back except for a little bit of the pauldron, unless you have massive pauldrons. After reading a bit about pauldrons, I think you may be correct on not being able to wear bracers with them. Apparently, they can interfere with armour at the elbow. So if you don't want to or cannot wear pauldrons you can wear....
You examine an pair of iron spaulders. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The spaulder is the protection for the shoulder and upper arm, featuring a small dished defense for the shoulder point and a number of lames extending down the arm. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Worn, or wielded as an improvised weapon, and may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds one encumbrance, and has a melee reach of two feet. Material : Iron (80% durability). Techniques : 59 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 1 behind the scenes). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred and fifty (out of one hundred and fifty). I would really like to see these as I get my arms ripped to shreds a lot. Made-up soak.

I'm not so keen on separate protection for the upper arms, because logically it should be wearable with bracers, but from a balance-perspective I don't want people wearing both (otherwise people either get lots more soak on their arms, or I have to split the 'arms' location into 'upper arms' and 'lower arms').
I did consider having a separate location for shoulders, but decided against it in the end.

I don't really see why. Bracers don't protect the whole arm, and if you get hit in the arm(vague) you block or soak with bracers. So, what, noone has upper arms or never gets hit in the upper-arms? I don't get it. As for power issues, why not make it single soak? I think that solves that problem. Thanks for the feedback, btw.
You examine an ethereal fire flower. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The fireflower is a strange plant that grows inter-dimensionally. It can only be picked by the strongest of warriors, those who cannot wield it will be instanly incinerated by it's awesome power. Hold this in your hand and assist you can use it to cast fireball. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : Two handed, but may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds zero encumbrance, and has a melee reach of zero feet. Material : Ethereal (100% durability). Techniques : 1 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 0 behind the scenes). Special : Will vanish if equipped while you are struck in combat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : Fifty (out of fifty). ----------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------[ RIGHT HAND ACTIONS ]--------------------- Valid commands: u (75) Definitions: use ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Spell Mana Delay Range Asc Pow Spell Mana Delay Range Asc Pow -------------------------------------- ----------------------------- u - 1 sec 516' +40 +20
Basically, its a wand that only has fireball, requires both hands, and only requires one tech to use. Also, it will vanish if you are equipped w/ it when you get a fight timer.
You examine an Amanita Muscaria mushroom. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The Amanita Muscaria is said to hold the key enlightenment. When you wield the Amanita and use it, you will consume it and be affected by rage, and giant growth for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Improvised (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : One handed, but may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds zero encumbrance, and has a melee reach of zero feet. Material : Food (10% durability). Techniques : 1 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 0 behind the scenes). Special : Casts giant growth and rage when eaten. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : Fifty (out of fifty). ----------------------------------------------------------------------
You consume an Amanita Muscaria. You grow a few feet in height. You feel the rage of the beast take hold! affects Affected by: Rage of the beast for 2 minutes 30 seconds which gives +40 to attack, +40 to defence, +10 to damage, and +10 to speed and pain immunity. Affected by Giant Growth for 2 minute and 30 seconds, which give +6 to size.
Cannot be renewed, ie if you eat a amanita while you are already affected, you get no benefits.

I don't want to start splitting the locations into things like "upper arm" and "lower arm", just as I don't want to start splitting hands into individual fingers or faces into eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Yes, in theory you can have equipment which only covers some of those parts - but there is such a thing as too much detail.
I'm also not keen on the idea of general items that anyone can use that replicate the abilities of class powers. For example, if you can get Rage of the Beast from an item, then the vampires will be motivated to get that item and move their ranks into something else. The net result is that all vampires have rage for free.

Haha, cool.
You examine a steel kusari-gama. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The kusari-gama is a weapon that consists of sickle and a metal chain with a heavy iron weight at the end. Attacking with the weapon usually entailed swinging the weighted chain in a large circle over one's head, and then whipping it forward to entangle an opponent's spear, sword, or other weapon, or immobilizing his arms or legs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Flails (no associated Mastery talent). Usage : One handed, but may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds two encumbrance, and has a melee reach of zero feet. Material : Steel (90% durability). Techniques : 13 (0 mounted, 0 style-specific and 7 behind the scenes). Good styles: Bear, Rhino and Bull. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : Fifty (out of fifty). Attack : +25 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Defence : +15 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Damage : +5 (+0, +0, +0 or +0 depending on condition). Cooldown : 4, 4, 5 or 5 seconds, depending on wielders encumbrance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
I based the stances off of morning star.
Edit:
You examine a steel khopesh. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A khopesh is a single-handed weapon, with a small crescent shaped blade. It resembles a sickle, however unlike the sickle the blade is on the outer side of the curve. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Dagger (Benefits from the Dagger Mastery talent).

I'd definitely like to add kusari-gama at some point, as a new type of weapon which, when you assist, gives you another combat table (a bit like bows). Thus with the kusari-gama you'd have a chain-like table for one hand and a dagger-like table for the other, along with some combo techs that use both hands, even though it'd only physically be a single weapon.
I'd like to do chains the same way (except you'd get the same chain table in each hand when you assist).

That sounds pretty cool, did you ever consider...
You examine a steel manrikigusari. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A ninja's weapon, it consists of a thick chain with lead weights at the end. It can be used to disable an enemy when thrown, and makes a deadly weapon in melee combat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Skill type : Flails (also benefits from the Net Mastery talent). Usage : One handed, but may also be thrown. Size/reach : Adds four encumbrance, and has a melee reach of three feet. Material : Steel (90% durability). Techniques : 18 (0 mounted, 6 style-specific and 2 behind the scenes). Good styles: Hawk (see 'help style'). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Condition : One hundred and fifty (out of one hundred and fifty). Attack : +10 (+10, +7, +3 or +1 depending on condition). Defence : +10 (+10, +7, +3 or +1 depending on condition). Damage : +10 (+10, +7, +3 or +1 depending on condition). Requires : Brawn 6, Grace 6 and Size 6 (no penalty - see 'help penalties'). Cooldown : 3, 3, 3 or 3 seconds, depending on wielders encumbrance. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
